1. Who we are and how to contact us
SupportCALL, Launceston, Tasmania, Australia. ABN 79 281 357 049. For privacy questions or requests email alerts@supportcall.com.au or use www.supportcall.com.au.
2. Website analytics (Google Analytics 4)
We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the site is used: pages viewed, approximate location (country and city), device and browser type, how you arrived, and actions such as "script downloaded" with the number of tasks chosen. We never send your email address, names you type or script contents to Google Analytics. Advertising features are always off (Google Consent Mode: ad storage, ad user data and ad personalisation denied).
Google Analytics sets the cookies _ga and _ga_TR1JGSZ4FC, which last up to two years. Google states that Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses (Google: IP masking in Google Analytics). Google processes analytics data in the United States and other countries.
Your choice: if your device is set to a European time zone, Google Analytics is not loaded until you choose "Allow". If Google detects a visit from the EU, EEA, UK or Switzerland, analytics cookies stay off unless you allow them. Everyone can change their choice with the "Analytics choice" link at the bottom of every SC-USCS page, or block analytics with a browser add-on.
3. Email address for reports (optional)
If you type an email address and download a script, your browser sends our server (api.php on this site) the address, your feedback choice and a random identifier for that browser. We email you a link to confirm the address; reports are only delivered for scripts built in a browser that the owner of the address confirmed, so nobody can use the service to send reports to someone else.
We store: the address; whether it is confirmed and from which browsers (as a scrambled identifier); whether you agreed that SupportCALL may contact you about your experience, and when; when you last built a script; and how many reports were emailed. When an address is first confirmed, and whenever its feedback choice changes, the SupportCALL team receives a notification with the address and that choice.
- Why: to email the reports you ask for; to prevent misuse of the email service and protect our mail server (our legitimate interest); to let the SupportCALL team know who uses SC-USCS; and, only if you agreed, to ask about your experience.
- Feedback emails: only sent if you ticked the box (it is never ticked for you). Each one includes a way to stop further contact, which we act on.
- Stop everything: every email we send has a link to stop all SC-USCS email to that address.
- Kept until: unconfirmed addresses are deleted after 30 days; confirmed ones are deleted three years after you last used the service, or sooner when you ask.
4. Emailed reports
When a script finishes and you agree on the PC (or pre-approved it), the PC uploads a ZIP of the report to our server, which emails it to your confirmed address and then discards it. Depending on the tasks chosen, reports can contain: the computer name and the signed-in user name; Windows version, hardware and drive details; installed programs, start-up items and browser add-ons; network settings including IP and MAC addresses and, if collected, the Wi-Fi connection history; the hosts file; copies of the System, Application and Setup event logs; crash dump files; lists of unsigned program files in user folders; Group Policy results; the screen log of the run; and the problems found. Your email provider then keeps the copy in your mailbox. If an email cannot be delivered, the returned message is deleted and not read.
5. Server records
Like every website, our web server keeps access logs (including IP addresses and the addresses of pages requested) for security and statistics, kept by our hosting provider for a limited time. For rate limits our server stores a scrambled (hashed) form of your network address for two days; the raw address is not stored by SC-USCS.
6. Information kept in your browser
Reading Mode, theme, saved technician setups, your analytics choice, the random browser identifier and the last email address you typed are stored in your own browser (local storage) for convenience. They are only sent to us as described in section 3.
7. Who else receives information, and overseas disclosure
- Our web hosting provider stores the server data and its mail server delivers emails.
- The SupportCALL team notifications go to SupportCALL mailboxes in Australia and South Africa, and to a Google Gmail mailbox (Google, United States).
- Google receives analytics data (United States and other countries).
We do not sell or rent personal information and do not use it for advertising.
8. Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete the information we hold about you, to restrict or object to how we use it, to receive a copy in a common format, or to withdraw consent at any time, by contacting us (section 1). We respond within 30 days. If you are not satisfied with our answer you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner (oaic.gov.au) or, in Europe or the UK, to your local data protection authority.
For visitors in Europe and the UK, our legal bases are: your consent for analytics and feedback emails; providing the service you asked for (emailing reports); and our legitimate interests for preventing misuse and informing our team.
9. Changes
We will update this page if anything changes and show the date at the top.
